APWA – Request to Contact Congress regarding Infrastructure

As a public works professional, you are all too aware of the need for investment in our nation’s water infrastructure. As our country continues to manage through the COVID-19 pandemic, the current economic climate is ripe for robust investment in our nation’s drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, and other water infrastructure.

Last week, the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee released text of the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2020. This legislation, as written, will authorize dozens of projects and studies for the Army Corps of Engineers related to flood prevention, mapping, and other water resources activities. APWA has been working to include language related to financing tools, technical changes, and workforce development initiatives that benefit public works professionals like yourself.

Unfortunately, the conference committee negotiating the bill could not come to an agreement on including those provisions. While APWA members appreciate the importance of this WRDA language as offered, we need to make sure members of Congress understand the opportunity at hand to provide the necessary tools for our water professionals.

APWA is working to ensure that Congress supports our water infrastructure.

Please take a moment today to send the letter below to your Senators and Representative urging them to speak up for public works and water infrastructure by clicking the link below.

Take Action

Thank you!
