American Backflow Prevention Association – Announcement of National Conference in Orlando

Dear New & Current Members,

We are excited to be sponsoring the National ABPA Conference to be held in Orlando from April 23 – 25, 2018. There will be an opportunity to meet members from around the country who have common goals in protecting the potable water supply from cross-connection and backflow disasters. It will be an educational and enjoyable time. Our membership has been asked to participate in this conference both as attendees and volunteers. If you can help at the April Conference contact our President, Ken Goergen @ 727-385-7953.

The conference will be held in the hub of all the exciting activities that Orlando has to offer. You can even extend your stay and take in one of Orlando’s famous tourist attractions: Universal Studios, Sea World, The Orlando Eye, and of course Disney World! Not to ignore the fact that you will have an opportunity to shop in the many outlet malls and dine in one of the hundreds of restaurants that are in the area. We hope you will be able to attend and volunteer at the 2018 ABPA Conference & Tradeshow!

We would like to thank Q-Intelligence for donating many hours to improve our website. The owner has voided our check from 2017 and gave us free website services. Thank you so much Q-Intelligence for that very special donation. Also thank you to our volunteers who helped us with the 2017 Conference: Valerie Andreichuk, Connie Bostick and Steve Miller. We appreciated everything you did for us!

MEMBERS NEEDED: for website updates, Constant Contact Mailings and updating our mailing list. We need more people to be involved. It doesn’t matter where you live as our chapter has members from the entire state of Florida and around the country. If you can volunteer to keep our website current or are familiar with Constant Contact to send communications and monitor our mailing lists please let us know. WE NEED YOU!!!

Finally, our chapter is at a crossroads and needs to get as many members involved in the chapter as possible. Due to illness, job changes, and retirement, we will need officers to migrate into leadership positions and take our chapter into the future. In order to do this, we need officers and volunteers to continue the legacy that Ken Goergen has started.  Our chapter officer positions are: President, Vice-President (will become President the next year), Secretary, Treasurer, and Membership*. We also need members to volunteer to keep the website updated and someone to take photos at our events. Please let us know if you would like to run for the position of Vice President (will take over as president in a year) Secretary, Treasurer, or Membership Chair. We will be having elections this year and are positioning ourselves to continue educating our membership and the public about the importance of backflow and cross-connection for many years to come.

Thank you,
Nabeehah McGill
The Florida Suncoast Chapter, ABPA

*Our bylaws prohibit vendors from taking officer positions.
